Create Natural Waves While You Sleep by AKI
07.08.2024

Today, I’d like to introduce ways to create natural waves while you sleep. These methods allow you to prep your hair the night before, giving you more time during those busy mornings. It’s perfect for those with a tight schedule, so I hope you give it a try.
1: Twisted Buns
- Dampen your hair: If your hair is dry, lightly spritz with water. Alternatively, after a shower, dry your hair with a blow dryer until it is about 80% dry. Slightly damp hair will hold the waves better.
- Divide your hair into two sections: Split your hair into two sections down the middle. Take each section and twist it up.
- Twist and Bun: Twist each section of hair and wrap into a bun at the roots. Secure the buns with hair ties or clips.
- Sleep: Sleep with your hair in buns, and by morning, you’ll have natural waves.
- Finishing touches in the morning: Undo the buns and gently tousle your hair with your fingers. Use a light styling spray if needed to hold the style.
2: Braiding
- Dampen your hair: If your hair is dry, lightly spritz with water. Alternatively, after a shower, dry your hair with a blow dryer until it’s about 80% dry. Slightly damp hair will hold the waves better.
- Create Sections: Divide your hair into 2-4 sections, depending on the amount of hair you have. More sections will create finer waves.
- Braid each section: Braid each section tightly for more defined waves or loosely for softer waves.
- Sleep: Sleep with your hair in braids. Using a silk pillowcase can reduce friction and keep the waves from losing their shape.
- Finishing touches in the morning: Undo the braids and gently run your fingers through them. Use a light hairspray if needed to set the style.
3: Sock Curls
1.Prepare socks: Get some soft cotton socks. You’ll need 2-4 socks depending on the amount of hair you have.
- Dampen your hair: If your hair is dry, lightly spritz with water. Alternatively, after a shower, dry your hair with a blow dryer until it’s 80% dry. Slightly damp hair will hold the sock curls better.
- Divide into Sections: Part your hair into several sections. More sections will create finer waves.
- Wrap with socks: Wrap each section of hair around the midsection of the sock, then roll it up to the roots and tie the ends of the sock together.
- Sleep: Sleep with your hair wrapped in the socks. The softness of the socks won’t disturb your sleep.
- Finishing touches in the morning: Untie the socks and gently tousle hair with your fingers. Use a light hairspray if needed to set the waves.
Test out different methods and find the one that creates natural waves that suit you best. Each technique is simple and will make your morning styling routine much easier.
