My favorite place in Japan by Shin
12.11.2021
Hello, this is SHIN from DUBLIN store.
This time's topic is my favorite place in Japan, and out of the many places I like in Japan, I chose... Yakushima!
Yakushima is a small island about an hour's ferry ride from Kagoshima in Kyushu in the south of Japan.
The island was formed by a volcanic upheaval and is registered as a World Natural Heritage site. The island is home to a 7,200-year-old sacred tree called the Jomon Cedar. This ancient tree is located in the center of Yakushima, and around the Jomon cedar there are many old and big trees that are over 1000 years.
Unlike the trees in California, it rains a lot, so there is a lot of moss and beautiful rivers flowing through the forest. This mysterious island was the model for the world of the Ghibli movie "Princess Mononoke"!
