Shin is one of our veteran hairstylists who works at our VIANGE salon in Dublin, CA. Shin became a hairstylist at the age of 18, and his 20 year journey that followed was more than he could have ever imagined. When he first started working, he was able to give his clients whatever haircut they requested, but he wasn’t yet able to customize each hairstyle to suit each client. He points out that he faced many challenges in the early stage of his career: How can I improve efficiency? How do I work with a variety of hair types? How do I customize a specific haircut to suit different facial structures?

He has learned over the years that listening and understanding your clients is just as important as giving the right haircut. He believes that the journey does not end when you’ve acquired techniques and knowledge because you will only start to see your weaknesses when you teach others. He hosts workshops a couple times a week to educate his fellow stylists to help them but also to continue challenging himself. For him, this profession is a never ending journey, and he strives to continue improving himself to be the hairstylist his clients can come to and fully trust.
