After visiting a hair salon, you might imagine women leaving with shiny, glossy hair and men with sharp, gel-styled looks—but in reality, that’s not the case for as many clients as you might think.

Of course, some people do want more dramatic styles, like beautifully curled hair. However, many clients don’t usually blow-dry their hair at home. Instead, they come to the salon hoping that, after simply drying their hair naturally, it will look effortlessly good.

As for me, I have naturally wavy hair and don’t often use styling products like wax—I usually let my hair air-dry. Because of this, when I cut hair, I aim to create a natural texture without relying on excessive heat. I focus on giving clients a style that feels easy and looks “just right” when they dry it at home the way they normally would.
