One of my favorite spots lately is Backhaus, a bakery with locations in San Mateo and Burlingame. My absolute favorites are their baguette and granola. Their Mini Chocolate Sourdough, which is only available on weekends, is another one I highly recommend.

I’ve always been more of a rice person than a bread person, and I was never really someone who would go out of my way to eat crusty, artisan-style bread. But the baguette at Backhaus completely changed that. It’s honestly so good and has become one of my recent favorites. The same goes for their granola. I never used to eat granola regularly, but ever since I discovered theirs, having it with yogurt every morning has become one of my little morning joys. I love it so much that I always make sure I have some at home so I never run out.

Their croissants and other pastries and breads are also delicious, and the coffee is great too. If you haven’t been yet, I definitely recommend stopping by!

One little tip: by around 11 a.m., many of the best breads are often already sold out, so I recommend going early and making it a breakfast stop. It’s definitely worth getting there early!
