My Favorite Cafes & Comfort Food
09.16.2026
When someone asks me about my favorite café, I often think less about the name of the place and more about how I feel while I am there. I enjoy cafés filled with natural light, where the music is not too loud, and there is just enough activity around me to feel comfortable. I like places where I can sit alone without being disturbed, but where the staff still offer a warm greeting when needed.
Spending time with a cup of coffee allows me to organize my thoughts, plan what I need to do next, or simply look outside and enjoy doing nothing for a while. In the middle of a busy life, those quiet moments help me slow down and reset. A café does not need an elaborate menu to feel special. A carefully prepared cup of coffee and a peaceful atmosphere are often more than enough.
My favorite comfort food is freshly cooked rice, especially a simple salted rice ball. I enjoy luxurious meals too, but when I am tired, the natural sweetness of rice with just a little salt feels completely satisfying. Even without any filling, properly cooked rice has a comforting quality that is difficult to explain.
Whether it is a café or a meal, I am drawn more to things that bring a sense of calm than to anything flashy. Lately, I have come to believe that these simple moments and familiar flavors may be the greatest luxuries of all.
