Stylist: Jessica
Main Branch: Saratoga Salon
Q: Tell us about yourself. Where are you from? What are some of your career highlights?
A: I am born and raised in the Bay Area. After High School I went to San Jose State for a few years before enrolling in Cosmetology School. When I graduated school I went to work for a Japanese hair salon as an assistant, where I learned a lot about different hair types and textures. While there I was able to move up from assistant to Junior Stylist. However, after 3 1/2 years there I felt it was time to try something new. This is when I found Viange Hair a new and trendy hair salon. I have been with Viange Hair since the opening of Saratoga's location and have been given many opportunities to grow as a stylist. Since the opening almost 2 1/2 years ago, I have gone from Stylist to Senior Stylist and became Assistant Manager of this location.
Q: What's your specialty?
A: I enjoy cutting and coloring and have taken many classes to further my education. However, my favorite service to do is the Japanese Straightening. Seeing someone come in with hair that is out of control and leave with sleek and shiny hair that puts a smile on their face, is so rewarding.
Q: Why did you become a stylist?
A: Ever since I was little I always thought it would be so much fun to be a hair stylist. I remember I would pretend to cut my dolls' hair. Hair has always been a canvas I was interested in creating something beautiful with. Whether I was styling my friend's hair for a school dance or playing with different hair colors, seeing how even the smallest change of someone's appearance can make such a big difference to them and the joy in their face was something I always enjoyed being a part of.
Q: What do you love about your job?
A: I love how even the smallest trim or a simple shampoo and blow-dry can make someone change the way they feel that day. Sometimes people come in feeling a little down but after they get their hair done, they are so happy and glowing. Seeing that I made someone so happy they can't stop looking at their hair or flipping it around, is what I love about my job.
Q: Tell us about your aspirations.
A: I aspire to keep growing and staying on top of the new trends and techniques. I believe in this industry there is always room to grow and improve your skills. I hope to always stay humble in what I do so I can continue to grow and give my clients the best.
Q: Who's your muse and why?
A: My family, through good times and bad they always stay strong and united no matter what.
Q: What do you do on your free time?
A: On my free time I like to relax and spend time with my friends and family. I watch a lot of Netflix and watch other stylists' posts to see their techniques.
Q: What’s your favorite quote?
A: My favorite quote is "live life to the fullest".
