Postpartum Hair Loss
10.01.2023

Today, I will talk about postpartum hair loss, which I often hear from my clients.
Why does postpartum hair loss happen, and what to do with it.
It is scary to see so much hair shedding, but it is a common condition that occurs about three to four months after giving birth. It is caused by hormone changes. Your estrogen levels increase during pregnancy, so you would feel your hair doesn’t shed at all. However, estrogen levels drop after childbirth. Then, your hair enters the resting phase of hair growth and starts to shed.
Besides the hormone changes, some reasons can be considered.
Stress
Stress causes poor blood circulation in the scalp. Then, it leads to unhealthy scalp conditions and oily scalp.
Lack of sleep
Levels of growth hormone drop by chronic sleeplessness. This hormone promotes hair growth and improves the conditions of the scalp.
Lack of nutrients in your body
Here are the tips for helping you regain healthy hair growth.
-Do an excellent balanced diet
Folic acid promotes hair growth. Broccoli and Edamame are good sources of folic acid.
Protein, iron, and zinc are vital too. Spinach and cashew nuts are your friends!
Vitamin A is a way of a healthy scalp. Carrots and mangos are Vitamin A-rich foods.
-Deep sleep
Sleep deeply is more important than long sleep. Growth hormone release during deep sleep.
Make yourself relaxed before going to bed. No phones before you go to bed. The blue light stimulates your brain. Having some herbal tea or hot milk will help you to fall asleep.
-Using mild cleaning shampoo
Some people feel that their scalp becomes sensitive after childbirth. Using amino acid-based shampoo is good. It is very gentle on the skin. CRES Ricca Revitalizing Shampoo is the ideal shampoo for the sensitive scalp.
Having said that, don't worry too much. Usually, your hair regains its normal growth and fullness after one year. Still, some hair care is better than none.
