When creating the outline, you want to be mindful of the position of the hair along the red line.

This is often a tricky area where the hair inside the red line may have irregular growth patterns. It can be thicker and grow in different directions making styling a challenge.

The Tailored Hair Method works around using the unpredictable hair in this area while preserving it. Aim for the perfect cut-line being mindful of the position of the red line.

Have the client tilt their chin down. Doing this exposes the hair on the inside of the red line and allows you to make a clean cut.

The unruly hair inside the red line should be shorter and not visible no matter which direction they move their neck. The hair surrounding the red line will be the thickest and consistent, creating a clean and even outline.
