Vol.23 Tailored Hair by Aki – Haircut : The Bob Edition
10.01.2023

Last time we introduced a technique to form a solid bob. Now, we’ll get into techniques to bring out movement and dimension in the bob. In contrast to the techniques that blend well, when it is made to not blend in you get movement and dimension because the hair will repel.
Unlike the horizontal slices that were made to fall into the gaps, working vertically in relation will create more openings.
By cutting in a way where the opposing directions work against each other, you create dimension and bring out the movement.
As pictured below, the base must be cut with the premise of carving out a large portion. The longest pieces will be a part of the overall structure.
“It’s shorter than I had hoped,” many of us have had this exact experience. That’s why it’s vital to carve out your vertical subsections while maintaining the foundation of the longest pieces. Otherwise, you will end up with the “shorter than I’d hoped” outcome. However, if you do master this skill you will be able to fully control the design to have dimension and movement.
This works on medium and long lengths alike. You can achieve a style with movement that doesn’t require a perm.
