Tailored Hair perms are completed in a short amount of time. I’m sure there are some people who have experienced a perm that has taken 3 to 4 hours. Tailored Hair is usually done in under 2 and a half hours.
Tailored Hair considers the client’s time to be extremely valuable, and that we are consuming an important resource. If we can cut down treatment time by even one minute, that’s more time added to the client’s day for them to use effectively. A perm that is done in minimal time can also minimize the stress on the hair. To be able to do your job efficiently in a minimum amount of time, you must be thoroughly prepared.
Let’s break down the necessary process for a perm.
Consult 5 minutes
Shampoo 5 minutes
Base Haircut 10 minutes
Dry 10 minutes
Hair volume and texture adjustment cut 10 minutes
Perm wrapping 10 minutes
Reducing agent heating 10 minutes
Oxidizing agent, neutralizer 15 minutes
Rinse off 5 minutes
Blow dry 10 minutes
Finishing touches 5 minutes
Total 95 minutes
Is that really all that it takes? Some doubts may arise, however, I think what takes place between each step is preparation and cleaning up. If it were to take you 3 hours to complete a cut and perm, you may be wasting time on unnecessary prep work and cleanup.
There may be some questions on how a perm can be properly processed in 10 minutes.
The time spent on the perm can be drastically reduced depending on the technique of the cut. If the cut is made to put more of a load on the hair, a strong perm can be applied, in contrast, if the cut weakens the load of the hair it can weaken the effect of the perm. If you carefully adjust these points while cutting, you won't have to do any unnecessary calculations when wrapping the perm rod and simply wrap the rods without thinking about the angle or direction of the rod. Instead, you will have the hair in a state where the adjustments have already been made in the cut. The perming solutions should be applied to the hair first, and then wrapped quickly. By doing this, the softening progresses simultaneously as the hair is being wrapped, so the processing time begins as soon as you are done wrapping. That is why 10 minutes is enough time.
Our next article will explain the oxidizing agent.
