03.14.2024

There are two main techniques for perming: “application wrapping” and “water wrapping”.
We’ll shine a light on the two mainstream techniques in the world of perms, particularly delving into why the “application wrapping” method is superior.
“Application wrapping” involves applying the perming solution to the hair and immediately wrapping it around rods. This technique starts softening the hair while the rods are being applied, resulting in almost complete softening by the end of the wrapping process. This eliminates the need for the long processing time typically required with the conventional “water wrapping” method. As a result, the overall treatment time is significantly reduced, alleviating stress during the waiting period.
Not only is it faster, but “application wrapping” has the added benefit of being less damaging to the hair. By minimizing the time the perming solution is in contact with the hair, the internal damage is kept to a minimum. This results in hair that looks and feels healthier post-treatment.
Furthermore, the “application wrapping” method is superior in making a perm last longer. The uniformly softened hair retains its shape well after being released from the rods, ensuring long-lasting beautiful curls. This makes styling a breeze within your daily routine and reduces the need for frequent perms, ultimately reducing the strain on the hair and maintenance costs.
In addition, this method further improves the quality of the curl because the chemicals act on the hair while applying even tension to the hair. This results in a natural and soft finish, and higher client satisfaction.
We’ll continue to deepen our knowledge and skills in regards to using the “application wrapping” method. Next time, we will provide a more detailed explanation of the specific treatment process using this method.
