How to share your design- the bob cut
We would like to walk you through an example of how the designer will collaborate and communicate with you to craft your tailored hair design.
In the case below, if a client with long hair comes in with the desire to drastically alter their length, we could go over a few images from a hair catalog. However, utilizing the client’s hair will build a clearer image of the outcome, which can alleviate any concerns the client may have and help the designer cut with confidence.
*Let’s say the designer suggests that a medium length bob would best suit this client. The designer would then mimic the look with the client’s hair and show them in the mirror.
*They will try a variation of lengths, and subtle changes to the overall silhouette of the style to find the best one.
*By gathering the client’s hair in the back and slightly pushing it forward, helps with adjusting and tweaking the volume of the bob cut. While moving the hair in different positions, the client’s facial structure and overall balance of the look is taken into consideration to find the design that best makes them shine. The client’s facial expressions change during these moments as well, helping the designer determine the moment the client is happy or unsatisfied with the direction of the design. This is a crucial point that the designer will pay close attention to. Going over the different styles in this manner, both the designer and client can communicate and recognize any differences in their visions for the desired outcome. If one were to not discuss this and simply begin cutting, it can often lead to a style that the designer may be confident in but leave the client dissatisfied.
*When discussing a bob cut, the designer will use their hand to show the different bottom lines and angles of the style. Whether it be an A-line, flat line, or mushroom bob, these angles are visually represented and adjusted accordingly. Paying close attention to the client’s expression during this time, the silhouette of the design is tweaked and adjusted to find the best suited one.
We discussed the bob cut in this article, and in the next volume we will go over the steps in sharing a layered style.
