Hair Cut : Layered Style

Cut while standing. When creating a style that is longer than shoulder length, we will begin cutting while having the client stand up. The reason for this is that the hairstyle must be designed with the entirety of the upper body in mind and not just the face. Everyone has differences in shoulder width, the length and thickness of their neck, head shape and size, posture, and overall height. By having the client stand up while we cut, we are able to visually take into account the overall balance including face shape as we move forward with the design.

During this time the client will be wearing a light robe that shows the silhouette of the body, as opposed to a cape that would cover everything up. A full-length mirror is also utilized during this point of the process. You will realize it is actually quite difficult to design a style with the client simply sitting in the chair and covered in a cape.
