Did you know that we humans have an average of 100,000 hair strands? We know it sometimes doesn’t feel like it. If we have all that hair, where did the volume go?

1.     External Damage: UV rays, straighteners, perms, coloring, … No matter how much you protect your hair, each strand gets weaker with time.

2.     Blood Circulation: When you have bad circulation in your body, the proper nutrition never reaches you hair leading to all kinds of problems. Blood circulation is usually caused by bad eating habits, lack of sleep, stress and smoking.

3.     Lack of estrogen: Estrogen is a hormone that helps strengthen and thicken your hair. With age, estrogen slowly starts to decrease making your hair weaker.

So, what should you do?

1.     Stimulate blood circulation: Try massaging your scalp when you wash your hair. Take your 5 fingers and slowly push down on your scalp a couple of times. This easy trick will promote blood circulation — and it feels amazing.

2.     Choose the right shampoo

Sulfates are overly harsh detergents that ultimately damage your hair in the long run. Sulfates go by the names of Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS). Avoid them. These chemicals are too strong for your hair stripping essential oils your hair needs to stay healthy. It also breaks down protein and may lead to the prevention of hair growth. 3.     Blow dry your hair

Avoid air drying your hair. This welcomes bacteria in your hair. After you get out of the shower, make sure you dry your hair thoroughly with a towel and dryer. When blow drying, apply the air in the opposite direction of where your hair’s growing. Once your hair is dry, bring it back to its natural direction — a little hack to create volume and shine.
