What to think about before your hair salon visit

We've talked about the most important step in hairstyling in our blog in the past —consultation. At Viange Hair, we take our consultations very seriously. So, we want to give you some tips for things you want to think about before you visit our hair salon.
First and foremost, it's always better to bring a photo of how you want your hair to look like. If you think you can explain it with words, that's totally fine too. Some customers trust us so much, they leave everything to us. (A real compliment by the way!) But most people have a specific vision in mind and it's easier to share that same vision visually with sample photos. So here are some things to consider when you're choosing your photos:
1. The big picture
If you want to show a haircut you like, try to find a photo taken from the front and the back, not just the front. For a hairstylist, it's helpful to see the cut from all sides.
2. Behind the scenes
A lot of the models in photos already have their hair styled with a curling iron. So, you want to think about the time and energy needed to style your hair every day to achieve your look. If not, you may want to consider getting a perm.
3. Lights
If you're choosing a photo to show a hair color you like, take into consideration, where the photo was shot. Hair color looks completely different depending on whether the photo was shot in the natural light outside, or with indoor lights.
4. Quick change vs. gradual process
When searching for hair color photos, a lot of the colors are achieved with highlights and balayage. For people who have dark colored hair, the color you want may need to go through 2-3 times of bleaching before it reaches your desired color. So you need to think about whether you're willing to enjoy the gradual process or if you want to achieve the change right that day.
5. Ask yourself questions
Sometimes, you'll get lost in all the pretty photos and have trouble making up your mind. When that happens, pick out a few photos you like. Then, think about what it is about each hairstyle, you like. This helps you organize and prioritize your thoughts and feelings about these looks.
There you have 5 easy tips to think about before your next salon visit! You'll feel much more confident discussing your new look with your hairstylist. From there, our hairstylists will thoroughly communicate with you on how they'll to bring your vision to life from the eyes of a professional.
We also have a free consultation service so if you want to talk to us more in advance on what kind of hairstyle will suit you or an estimate cost and time for your new hairstyle, let us know! We'll be thrilled to help you.
